Welcome!
Ladies, Gentlemen, Fellow Professional Bodies and Agencies:
Welcome to the 10th African Mental Health Summit: A Decade of Progress and a Future of Possibilities!.
The 10th African Mental Health Summit is here! It is with great excitement and privilege that we welcome you to our 2024 10th African Mental Health Summit hosted by Progressive Individual Resources, Inc., and Restoration for All Inc. We are thrilled to gather once again to celebrate a decade of advancements in mental health within the people of African Descent community. Over the past ten years, we have seen remarkable strides in awareness, advocacy, and access to mental health resources, thanks to the dedication and resilience of our community.
The Summit theme this year is "Using Assessment & Evaluation to Drive Therapeutic Partnership and Healing". This theme is crucial for the people of African descent due to diverse cultural backgrounds, stigma around mental health, language barriers, trauma experiences, and the need for community-centered approaches. Prioritizing assessment and evaluation helps tailor culturally sensitive therapies, build trust, address language barriers, identify trauma-related issues, and involve the community, leading to improved mental health outcomes and healing. By prioritizing assessment and evaluation in therapeutic practices, schools, healthcare providers and other helping professionals can better understand the unique needs and strengths of people of African Descent, foster trust and collaboration, and ultimately contribute to improved mental health outcomes and healing within the community.
The10th African Mental Health Summit will be held at the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center, 6155 Earle Brown Dr, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430 on Friday, July 12, 2024. We are excited to announce that the summit will take place from 9 am to 4 pm, featuring insightful sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. It will be a day filled with knowledge sharing, collaboration, and empowerment as we delve into important topics surrounding mental health in our community. Following the summit, we invite you to join us for the Gala and Award Night from 5 pm to 10 pm. This special evening will be a time to celebrate the achievements and milestones of the past ten years. We will honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing mental health awareness and support within the African diaspora.
